Description

Begonia sp. Timika comes from Papua New Guinea where it grows in very humid tropical rainforest, in shady or semi-shady locations. A great smaller species for terrariums and vivariums.

This species, like a few other hairy Begonias, is much more robust and resistant to melting, so cultivation is definitely easier than in case of e.g. B. darthvaderiana.

Begonia sp. Timika growing conditions:,

  • Humidity: high (80% or higher)
  • Watering: intermediate (do not let the soil dry out, but avoid sogging for a longer period of time).
  • Soil: slightly acidic with good drainage (Sphagnum moss with perlite and peat or similar)
  • Fertilizing: low
  • Light: low to intermediate
