Sonerila sp. Peang Sibau is a very rare and new Sonerila species which is nicely iridescent. It is a small species (usually less than 10 cm in diameter), a bit similar to Sonerila beccariana, but has slightly different leaf pattern and it is definitely less hairy.

Description

Sonerila sp. Peang Sibau is another Sonerila species from Kalimantan, Borneo. Like others, it is perfectly suited for terrariums, vivariums and jars. It needs very similar conditions to Begonia and other small plants from tropical forest floor, which is rather dark and very humid.

Sonerila sp. Peang Sibau growing conditions:

  • Humidity: high (80% or higher).
  • Watering: intermediate (do not let the soil dry out, but avoid sogging).
  • Soil: slightly acidic with very good drainage (Sphagnum moss with perlite and peat or similar; pure Sphagnum works very well, too).
  • Fertilizing: low.
  • Light: intermediate to low.
