Michaelmoelleria vietnamensis is closely related to genus Primulina. It has ornamental leaves with glittering silver patches of various shapes and patterns. Moreover, it blooms with quite big (around 5 cm) blue flowers. A very lovely plant. This species prefers higher humidity, so it is best suited for a terarrium / vivarium or a closed container.

Description

Michaelmoelleria vietnamensis is the only species in the Michaelmoelleria genus. It belongs to Gesneriaceae family. Gesneriads are mostly furry & hairy plants with distinct, often showy flowers. Some species combine these features with really unusual and beautiful leaves, making them great additions to terrariums / vivariums.

GROWING CONDITIONS for Michaelmoelleria vietnamensis:

  • Light: moderate to high
  • Humidity: high (around 70% or higher)
  • Watering: intermediate (do not let the soil dry out, but avoid sogging for a longer period of time).
  • Soil: acidic with good drainage (Sphagnum moss with perlite and peat or similar)
