Begonia locii is very rare species from limestome areas in Northern Vietnam. Moderately variable, the leaves can vary from very dark with almost no veining but with pronounced, wide silvery stripe at the center to heavily, green-turquoise veined with thinner silvery stripe.

Description

Begonia locii is a beautiful, rhizomatous Begonia which naturally grows on calcareous rocks. It is a medium-sized species which grows best under higher humidity, very well suited for medium either larger terrariums and vivariums or windowsills with elevated humidity.

Begonia locii growing conditions:

  • Humidity: high (60% or higher)
  • Watering: intermediate (do not let the soil dry out, but avoid sogging for a longer period of time).
  • Soil: very porous with very good drainage (pumice/perlite/lava mix with only a bit of organic compunds like Sphagnum moss) with limestone added (optionally)
  • Fertilizing: low
  • Light: intermediate
